One thing in the back of my mind is I need to take pictures of the knit dress. I was thinking I wanted new underwear for it, and I actually do want new 20s underwear, but I actually have things that will work--the same that I have for my teens dresses.

I sewed the sweater yesterday, and it fit! It *just* fits. Whew. It's like the two day sweater and green 30s sweater that way. Both of which I'm happy with.

I tried it on with just the sleeves sewn and something was off. It was obvious the hips were going to be a little small--I knew I should've added more to the hips on the front to match the ( Read more... )

The dress is done!

Soon I'll make the sash and the underthings. Sewing seems so ambitious! But it's done, and it fits!

Volume 41 of the Bear Brand Bucilla Blue Book from 1922 is available as a digital book, but I found an original on abebooks.com and bought it. I'm assuming it'll have a needle gauge like my 1921 one does, and I'm excited to see that. Also, if I make a sweater, it's my pattern and I can do a complete write up of it. I started the sleeve fringe during my three meetings today and did the neckline embroidery tonight. I used the white yarn leftover from the 1830s embroidered dress. It took a few tries to get it, but I'm happy with it!

The shoulder seams are sewn with basically a Kitchener stitch, only for garter stitch. It's not perfect, but it's good.

At lunch at work today I started by unknitting a row on one side and knitting an extra row on the other so the tails would be on the cuff, not the neck. Then I realized I was going to need a lifeline when sewing it.

Fifty three rows left on this half of the dress! And 22 of those are half rows on either side of the neck. So soon!
